AMOG has expertise in assessing seawater cooling dispersion, sea intakes and outfall dispersion analyses utilising advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques. We have undertaken detailed studies examining the numerical modelling of outfall diffusers associated with wastewater treatment and desalination plants.
The results of these studies are used to establish discharge performance and optimise the diffusion process from the outlet nozzles, ensuring adequate effluent dilution and assessing any potential impact upon the seabed that could lead to erosion or scouring. AMOG can also conduct analyses to investigate the seawater cooling associated with offshore Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) processes, examining dispersion of the thermal plumes from the liquefaction and engine room cooling circuits, sometimes required to satisfy the mixing zone limit requirements of environmental regulations and guidelines.
This advanced CFD Modelling has been conducted for sea intake structures (either anchored or fixed on the seabed) to assess their hydraulic performance, determine the intake efficiency and for limiting the entrainment of marine biota and debris into the intake system.
