AMOG has unparallel expertise in WECs (wave energy converters) from assisting more than five other companies in their project development activities to developing arguably one of the world’s leading wave energy technologies – the AMOG WEC Generation 1, and now Generation 2.

After progressing the AMOG WEC Gen 1 through the TRL (technology readiness level) scale through a systematic stage gate process and with EU funding to perform field tests offshore Cornwall in 2019, the results were encouraging: the WEC worked perfectly the first time and broke power generation records, largely in part due project execution practices. These practices followed a rigorous qualification process and made use of the best practices and standards from the 60-year old offshore industry.

We are now progressing on the AMOG WEC Gen 2, after successfully completing model testing at the Flowave tank Facility at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. These tests took place as part o fthe EuropeWave Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) programme, and we are working towards plans for Phase 2.

Our interest is eave energy converters and technology is in the industry as a whole, not in competing technologies; we belive that everyone will be better off with an evolved and imrpoved industry and approach to these technologies.
