When production ceased in a field, the subsea architecture and RTM were abandoned in situ pending future removal.
Some time after abandonment the RTM column was found to be touching the seabed due to internal flooding. AMOG was commissioned to:
- Determine which buoyancy tanks needed to be flooded to sink the RTM column
- Assess, for a range of flooding scenarios, the moored response of the RTM column in cyclonic and noncyclonic metocean conditions
- Demonstrate the overall response of the system in the event of further flooding causing the RTM to topple
- Demonstrate the response of the mid water arches and risers in the event of further flooding causing the RTM to topple
- Assess the propensity of buckling failure in the RTM Column
