As part of the Rolling Stock Public-Private Partnership (PPP), RailCorp engaged AMOG to provide safety engineering support in the development of the Safety Management System for the Waratah passenger train. The Rolling Stock PPP involved RailCorp and Reliance Rail for the provision of 78 air-conditioned suburban electric 8-car trains, 2 simulators plus training materials for drivers and guards, and a maintenance facility leased to Reliance Rail by RailCorp. The goal of the contract was to ensure 72 trains are available to RailCorp for daily services.

AMOG's role in the project was to provide support to the Safety and Certification Assistant Director in the delivery of the interim Waratah trains.

AMOG's supporting role included the production of the Internal Emergency Door Release (IEDR) safety case which, as well as forming a justification for the Waratah design, was adopted for RailCorp-wide modification of their existing Rolling Stock. AMOG also maintained the testing hazard log and produced a number of safety assurance statements (SAS) in support of the testing program.
