AMOG was contracted by a major Australian port to undertake mooring analysis and structural assessment of a berth at the port refinery pier. AMOG conducted an analysis of the mooring system for the berth using the industry standard specialist analysis package ARIANE, to determine the worst case loads applied by a berthed vessel to the mooring Dolphins.

The structural capacity of each of the four mooring Dolphins at the berths was determined based on allowable stress limits in accordance with AS3990, and the load capacities were then used to determine the wind limit of each Dolphin and hence the wind limit of the berth. Inspection guidelines were also developed to provide a methodology for a conservative assessment of the pile material condition and corrosion for ongoing monitoring by the port operators.
