In October 2015, in a highly publicised case, two people were killed and 19 others injured when a temporary bridge collapsed over Johannesburg's M1 Motorway.

The South African Department of Labour set up an Inquiry to investigate instances of negligence and contravention of safety legislation.

AMOG's Professor Andrew Potts and Principal Engineer Gary Farrow were engaged to undertake a full structural investigation of the failed bridge and present their findings to the Inquiry in Johannesburg.

The matter is still being investigated.
