Prof Melchers has received two five-year Australian Professorial Fellowships from the Australian Research Council, has published 4 books and over 200 refereed journal papers, and many conference papers and reports. Blending a highly successful academic career (including his current position at the University of Newcastle) while still being a leader in industry and in the profession, through Engineers Australia, Prof Melchers also works closely with AMOG on the company's Joint Industry Projects and as a consultant.
