Professor Robert Melchers was one of the founding partners of AMOG in 1991 and a Director of AMOG when the company first started out. He is one of the leading structural engineering academics in Australia, was the founding editor of the Australian Journal of Structural Engineering, and was instrumental in establishing the Structural College in the early 1980s. Prof Melchers has received two five-year Australian Professorial Fellowships from the Australian Research Council, has published 4 books and over 200 refereed journal papers, and many conference papers and reports. Blending a highly successful academic career (including his current position at the University of Newcastle) while still being a leader in industry and in the profession, through Engineers Australia, Prof Melchers also works closely with AMOG on the company's Joint Industry Projects and as a consultant.
