Prof. Jon Hinwood was a founding partner of AMOG and served chairman for the company's first decade. Prof. Hinwood's areas of expertise include; water movement/circulation and water quality issues, design of water circulation and pumping systems, design of breakwaters and small and large craft harbours, beaches and sediment transport, coastal and ocean processes and estuarine dynamics, and environmental loading on fixed and floating structures. He has been a part of the Monash Engineering Ream for over 50 years and ran the Monash Offshore Engineering Program with Prof. Paul Grundy for a decade. He also developed the wave tank at Monash;University, Clayton Campus, which is still the largest in the southern hemisphere, and continues to have an ongoing role at AMOG as a consultant.
