AMOG one of five wave energy projects to continue to next phase of EuropeWave

Following the competitive Phase 1 of EuropeWave’s Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) programme, five wave energy projects have been selected to develop their concepts further in the next phase, including AMOG's Sea-Saw WEC.

Following the competitive Phase 1 of EuropeWave’s Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) programme, five wave energy projects have been selected to develop their concepts further in the next phase, including AMOG’s Sea-Saw WEC.

AMOG Consulting Ltd has completed model testing of its wave energy converter as part of the EuropeWave project. With the support of the EuropeWave Pre-commercial Procurement Programme, 

testing took place at the FloWave circular tank facility within the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. This AMOG Sea-Saw wave energy device will advance wave energy technology by introducing a new class of dual-hull hinged wave energy convertors capable of generating utility grid scale wave energy from direct drive power take-offs.

The AMOG device, designed and built at model scale, included sophisticated model scale power take-off units which enabled direct measurement of developed power, giving high confidence in the predicted results; one of the most successful power-producing tests to date, demonstrating a strong foundation of power output to underpin the long-term economics of the technology.

The testing campaign included a series of the International Electrotechnical Commission regular wave and irregular wave specification tests, along with robustness checks on quartering conditions.
